In the fourth quarter of 2022, Tesla produced over 439,000 vehicles and delivered record 405,000 vehicles, beating its previous single-quarter record.

In 2022, vehicle deliveries grew 40% year-on-year to 1.31 million while production grew 47% year-on-year to 1.37 million.

The vast majority of Tesla deliveries in Q4, 388,131 units, were its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles, its more affordable mid-range offerings. Tesla reported 17,147 deliveries of its Model S and Model X vehicles.

The period ending Dec. 31, 2022 was marked by challenges for Tesla, including Covid outbreaks in China, which caused the company to temporarily suspend and reduce production at its Shanghai factory.

During the fourth quarter, Tesla also offered steep price cuts and other promotions in the U.S., China and elsewhere in order to spur demand, even though doing so could put pressure on its margins.
